The Dell 3000cn printer is a color laser type that’s ideal for a small workgroup of PCs. It carries with it some essential features an office can take advantage of to come up with quality printouts. Fortunately, it’s available in midnight gray and ion silver that can go well with most other colors and furnishings.
The performance if this machine is influenced by the 300-MHz processor within it. Monochrome printing speed is 25 pages per minute. On the other hand, color printing speed is 5 pages per minute. However, printing speeds will vary with actual use. An optical resolution of up to 600 x 600 dots per inch is enough to produce sharp details and vibrant colors each time.
From the box, it comes installed with a memory amounting to 64 MB. But because there’s an expansion slot, the memory may be expanded to as much as 576 MB. This machine also has a four-cartridge ink system – 2K black, 1K magenta, 1K yellow and 1K cyan. For optimum performance, Dell set its duty cycle per month to 20,000-49,999 pages. Duty volume per month is at 45,000 pages, making it ideal for a small network of PCs.
It has a combined media handling capacity of 900 sheets. Supported media sizes are extensive, including letter, legal, executive, folio, statement, A4, A5 and JIS-B5. Media types which can be handled include plain paper, card stock, transparencies, envelopes and others. An optional auto-duplex unit can help in meeting output demands and conservation of supplies at it provides two-sided printing at once.
Connecting this machine to a network is easy with the fitted Ethernet 10/100 BaseT port. In addition to this, there are a couple more interfaces available, such as a high speed USB and parallel IEEE1284 ports for hassle-free use with a PC. The integrated Dell Printer Web Tool allows for easy setting up, installation and configuration of the machine. However, an internet supply is necessary as it’s web-based.
There are two more functional tools found on this machine. The Dell Cartridges Management System allows for effective toner monitoring, as well as other consumables. One of the things it can do is alert the administrator by sending an e-mail when the toner runs low or goes empty. Ordering of replacement is also facilitated online. The Color Track Tool makes it possible to attain lower printing costs by assigning cost-effective machine-use conditions to a PC or the network.
