How do you do a color wash illustration?
I know you can use either colored pencil or oil pastels to create a color wash but I’m not exactly sure how. Also, I am going to add a top layer that will be an acrylic paint color wash so I wasn’t sure if that would smudge the original.
Colored pencils and acrylics work great together; I use this technique all the time. I would use the pencils for line work and shading on top of the acrylics. Use the acrylics to fill large areas with color. You might also try watercolors and/or watercolor pencils for more subtle washes. IDK how they work with oil pastels but I would think you could use the colored pencils for line work…
