DMX signal via Ethernet?
Hi, I have a PX3635 lighting controller which receives a DMX512 signal via ethernet (CAT5)
Its pin specification is:
1 – Data+
2 – Data-
7 – Common
8 – Common
Just wondering what sort of signal I would need to send and on what pin to get this thing talking to, say, a microcontroller or a PC. Thanks.
The data lines are driven as a 5-volt differential pair similar to RS-485 serial transmission. However, talking to it is not a trivial task… but it certainly has been done. There was a great “Circuit Cellar” article about it, as well as others. See the references below.
