Is it fine to use an 808 nm laser diode with a 780 nm lens and module?
Is this safe to do, and will this adversely affect the performance of the laser?
It won’t affect laser performance. I would check the glass index specifications of the lens to see if there is any chromatic shift you might not anticipate or run a raytrace model with lens design code. A 22nm difference in wavelength is not that big a deal.
