Light Spotlight

Light Spotlight
Is there a way that we can buy light covers (for a spotlight) that would create the effect of blacklights?

the thing we want to do is to have a cover we can put over lights to create the effect of blacklights. we don’t want to buy blacklights because they are too expensive. our chemistry teacher thought we could, but we can’t find anything. we want to do it with a spotlight for a play, and also just on regular light fixtures.

The “effect” of a black light is caused by the variable frequency that the light is generated then viewed as it migrates into the visible spectrum.
Ultra Violet light is not visible to the human eye. As the UV light interacts with dust, and other air born particulates, it slows the UV light down, to where it is seen in the visible spectrum. This causes he “wave” or oscillation of the light effect to your eye.

How to fake the effect: You will need a dark blue gel or cover for your light, then place a fan infront of the light source, between the light source, and where you want the effect, it won’t be anywhere near as cool as black light, however, it should be adequate for your application.

Your chemistry teacher is sneaking a lesson in on you. Hope you learned something.

In 1972 it probably seemed like the year belonged to a blues-tinged wall-of-sound rock band–maybe Deep Purple, who recorded Made in Japan that year–but from an aesthetic vantage, the blues-rock mantle has to go Captain Beefheart. In 1972 producer Ted Templeman took the controls for a pair of stunning Beefheart diamonds (in the rough of course), The Spotlight Kid and Clear Spot, both collected he…
