Are there comfortable hard (RGP) lenses?
My optician saids I can’t wear soft contact lenses anymore. But I can wear RGB lenses. But the RGP lenses are just never comfortable and I’m considering getting a lens implanted. Are there comfortable RGP lenses? I need to look for alternatives before deciding to get the operation.

Hi Adelle. Thanks for your answer. Have you heard of synergeyes contact lenses? Would they be more comfortable. I have tried RGP lenses for a very long time. The curvature has been adjusted once. They remain uncomfortable.
RGP lenses always take a little getting used to, although most people find them comfortable enough after a few months of daily wear.
Because rigid lenses don’t mold to your eye like soft lenses do, a good fit is essential. Some eyes are easier to fit than others, and some people have to get custom made lenses. If your eye has a very unusual shape sometimes an ‘average’ or slightly compromised fit is as good as the optometrist can get.
It takes a very good optometrist to change someone from soft to rigid contact lenses, and it would have been done for a very good reason. If after a few months of persevering you still aren’t happy, go back and see if your optometrist can alter the fit a little. Implant surgery is very invasive and I’d only suggest it as a last resort.
If you are in pain, or if your vision seems blurred go back to your optometrist immediately in case it’s something more serious. You only get one set of eyes. Don’t take any chances.
