CAmera Set up – Night clubs, lounges etc. – Low light?
What is the usual set up shooting on events i.e clubs, lounges etc,
I tried it in my room with a lamp and a strobe light to kinda replicate the club environment and i came up with shutter speed – 4 and aperture of 4.5 with 500 iso no flash
but i notice i image are sometimes are blurry oh yeah im using the Manual mode.. I’m really to DSLR. Inputs and additional info will be really appreciated. Thank you.

I want the people to be sharp… and blur the lightings or the backround.. I only have the built in flash.
My first shoot will be on saturday. I’m kinda nervous that will will have crappy photos….

Do you want the people sharp and clear or are you looking for a shot with the background sharp but the people blurred ? Anything with a slow shutter speed and people moving (dancing) is going to blur. You can set the iso as high as possible but the cost will be more noise in the picture. You will be able to get more light in using a prime lense with a large aperature. A tripod or monopod will help a bunch with camera movement. A tripod is more stable a monopod may be easier to manage and get to the locations you want to shoot from in a club. My guess though is that if you really want to capture photos with the people clear and recognizable you will need a flash. If you use slow sink you should still get in the things in the club you want. You should be able to moniotor the background so it is not all dark outside the flash range and still have the stop motion on the people when the flash fired. Play with the flash compensation to get just enough light to catch the subject and no more so you don’t wash out the club look You may also want to try rear curtain flash this will blurr behind the people for an illusion of motion and still fairly good shot of the subject. Diffusor, gels or snoods may work with the stobe to give you some intereting effects Shoot raw because getting the white balance right in most clubs is going to be interesting ( and if you shoot with gels you may not truely white balance it as much as just picking what look you want) . With RAW you can adjust white balance in the digital darkroom. good luck
