Why is my neutered 10-month old dog always getting humped?
I have a 10-month old, neutered male lab/border collie X. He is always getting humped at the dog park, moreso than all the other dogs combined. I understand that humping is many times about dominance and not sex but what is it about my dog that makes other dogs get that twinkle in their eye? Most of the time there is one or two other males who will not give up on trying to hump my dog. My dog was neutered at six months of age.
Your dog is more submissive than these other dogs – it is a dominance thing. There is something about his body language that is signaling to these other dogs that he is more submissive. Dogs mostly communicate by body language. The other owners should be stopping their dog’s rude behavior – and hey at least your dog is not super dominant and using body language to pick fights. That’s the other end of the doggy personality spectrum.
