How long will it take for purple shampoo to get all the yellow out of hair?
I want white blonde hair and I got my hair up to a pale yellow. I was wondering how long will it take to get all the yellow out with purple shampoo.
If you are at a true pale yellow all you need to do is tone it. Purple shampoo alone can do nothing to “remove” the yellow. The purple in the shampoo is simply laying over the yellow, probably just dulling it out.
To truly get white blonde you need to either bleach it one more time to pull to palest yellow and then tone it or just try a toner and see if it works. Again, if you are at a true pale yellow not chicken fat yellow) you should get a good result with a toner.
Any beauty supply should carry violet toners- chemicals that are mixed with a low volume of peroxide to penetrate the hair shaft and counteract the yellow. Paul Mitchell (I hate their color line but love this one stuff) makes stuff called Flash Finish Sheer Rapid Toner that comes in “icy-blue violet” and other colors that will counteract the yellow and bring you to white, or silver or anywhere in between.
Other lines, like Redken Shades EQ have demi-permanent “color glosses” that can work as toners: Shades 9V is magic.
